I cover the box for a day or two with a grocery bag until they move on..this usually works.

I have tried many things what works best for me is a long wren guard with the sides and give blues a 4 inch clearence to hole.it's the only thing that works to keep sparrows out.and I let my sparrow spooker hang down to the end of my wren guard. And when i see them around my box i take my trapping box with my van ert in it and fake nest and eggs place it about 5 feet from blues box gotcha! that takes care of that.

We had several house sparrows here that attacked and dove on my bluebirds who were nesting in my back field, the best thing to deter a house sparrow for us was a sparrow spooked, I couldn't believe how well it worked all babies fledged, next year I plan to have a house sparrow trap, there are to many House sparrows!!!
